The Gentle Storm – The Diary 2015




The Gentle Storm, es el nuevo proyecto de Arjen Anthony Lucassen junto a la vocalista Anneke Van Giersbergen (The Gathering, Agua de  Annique) que nos cuentan una historia de amor, p�rdida y separaci�n contada a trav�s de la historia de dos amantes de ficci�n del siglo XVII. Un marinero holand�s se embarca en un viaje de dos a�os dejando a su esposa en su hogar de Holanda. El �nico medio para comunicarse y mantener vivo su amor durante la separaci�n es a trav�s de una relaci�n epistolar. Estas cartas forman la base de los temas del �lbum.



Estamos muy acostumbrados en que los discos que saca Arjen Lucassen sean dobles, y este no se salta esa costumbre, sin embargo aqu� encontramos en cada CD los mismos temas, pero grabados de dos maneras diferentes, �gentle� y �storm�. Podr�amos simplificarlo a ac�stico y el�ctrico respectivamente y dejarlo ah�, pero ni mucho menos. En la parte el�ctrica se nota el deje progresivo que siempre ha tenido la m�sica de Arjen, y hay toques folk por todas partes, con ritmos de varias partes del globo, algo que tampoco es ajeno a sus composiciones anteriores. Aqu� no hay m�s que escuchar �Shores of India� para notarlo, o ver el listado de colaboraciones, encontrando un sitar, un bouzouki irland�s o un surbahar entre muchos otros, siempre con el hilo conductor que ofrece la bella voz de Anneke. Cada tema es una obra maestra rica en matices e imposible de apreciar en una primera escucha.
Donde m�s se aprecia el esfuerzo creativo de �The Diary� es en el CD �gentle�. Si en alg�n momento alguien pens� en obviar esta parte o que iba a ser igual pero con los instrumentos �desenchufados�, puede cambiar de opini�n, ya que en algunos casos poco tienen que ver. Es m�s, siendo m�s concretos, �ste ser�a mejor calificarlo como un disco puramente folk.

Escuchen y disfruten de este excelente disco que como suele hacer el se�or Arjen es simplemente otra obra de arte en su coleccion..

TDATS fourth birthday festive greetings to you all! No music here....just a thanks to all the people who have been following this blog, four years down the line and I am still finding new ideas and receiving helpful pointers from readers who are often more informed than me....so thanks to you all. Please reply here or email me with any tips and ideas for the blog....you can also join in and contribute to TDATS news in the fb group.....I have some new ideas in the works....the next post in a few days, in time to be a Christmas present to you all, will be a revealing interview and story regarding a great band that I dont think has been spotlighted anywhere as yet.....and I have more plans to do that kind of thing next year....there are plenty more themes in the works....any advice that readers would like to offer on South-East Asia, East-European and latin american bands would be gladly followed up and if you can think of any other themes that will go down well here let me know!
