The Crystal Mansion The Crystal Mansion 1972 us beautiful mix of country folk funky psych soft prog rock korean 2016 remaster

The Crystal Mansion The Crystal Mansion 1972 us beautiful mix of country folk funky psych soft prog rock korean 2016 remaster Formed in the early-1960s The Secrets were a Mount Laurel, New Jersey, based RnB cover band.  By 1968 the line up consisted of  singer Johnny Caswell, guitarist Ronnie Gentile, drummer Ricky Morley and keyboardist Sal Rota. Having adopted the name The Crystal Mansion,  the band was signed by Capitol where they enjoyed a modest national hit with the single The Though tof Loving You b/w Hallelujah (Capitol catalog number 2275 ). The singles success led Capitol to finance an LP, 1969s "The Crystal Mansion".  Dropped by Capitol, in 1972 the band reappeared on Motowns rock-oriented Rare Earth label.  Co-produced by the band, the cleverly titled "The Crystal Mansion" found the band largely abandoning their early pop sound in favor of a  into a myriad of styles, including country, psych and even progressive moves.     Even though ...

The Gosdin Brothers Sounds Of Goodbye 1968 us country folk rock milestone 2003 remaster

The Gosdin Brothers Sounds Of Goodbye 1968 us country folk rock milestone 2003 remaster Once youve heard them, how can you not like the Gosdin Brothers? Their 1968 album SOUNDS OF GOODBYE is one of the most satisfying blends of country, pop and folk-rock that the era produced, yet because it was aimed at the country market rather than the hip scene, the record, and indeed the acts importance, has been overshadowed by the frankly more copy-worthy Byrds and Burritos. As charter members of the country rock brotherhood that included Clarence White, Gib Guilbeau and Gene Parsons - all of whom provided the sparkling musical support for the duos studio recordings - Vern and Rex Gosdin brought a knowing savvy to the music that was tempered by the innocent freshwater sensibilities of their stunning harmonies, and the unsurpassed warmth of Verns lead vocal. With its array of fine songs, and sympathetic production by maverick Gary S Paxton, SOUNDS OF GOODBYE is a true jewel of early country rock....

Terry Dolan Terry Dolan 1972 us amazing classic rock with psych country and blues flavours 2016 remaster and expanded

Terry Dolan Terry Dolan 1972 us amazing classic rock with psych country and blues flavours 2016 remaster and expanded On April 24, 1971, the San Francisco Examiner ran a piece titled The Hit That Isnt a Record. It was about an unsigned local musician named Terry Dolan who was doing the impossible having a hit without making a record. A demo tape Dolan had cut with Rolling Stones piano man Nicky Hopkins had found its way into heavy rotation on two FM underground stations, and one of the songs, Inlaws and Outlaws, was lighting up the phones. The article would prove strangely prescient, because after the demo helped land him a deal with Warner Brothers, Dolan made a record that never became a record. At least not until forty-four years later. Music history is peppered with lost albums, those vinyl equivalents of Atlantis from The Beach Boys Smile to Princes Black Album. But what if not only a landmark album went missing in time, but along with it an artist and the potential of an ...

Terry Pratchett has walked into the Country of the Dawn

Terry Pratchett has walked into the Country of the Dawn Very sad news today....Terry Pratchett has died at aged only 66.  He had suffered from early onset alzheimers for 8 years... in other words he wasnt even 60 years old when he got Alzheimers... in the same way Pat Summitt, Lady Volunteers basketball coach, also was diagnosed with this awful, awful disease when she was in her late 50s...not even 60 years old. His obituaries say he died of natural causes, rather than taking his life... I find that difficult to believe as a healthy person (except in mind) could live for 90-years with this awful disease. I wonder if the media didnt want people to know that Mr. Pratchett took his fate into his own hands and welcomed Death on his own terms, as hed said he would - and I admire him for it. If your quality of life is absolutely zero - if you cant read, cant remember how to put on your clothes, etc., why go on living? He had a fantastic life - touched millions of people. His work has lon...

Redwing Redwing 1971 us astonishing classic rock with country folk blues and psych tinges

Redwing Redwing 1971 us astonishing classic rock with country folk blues and psych tinges The seeds of Redwing were sown in Sacramento, California in 1962. when folk trio Tim, Tom and Ron formed. Comprising Timothy B Schmit (guitar / bass / vocals), Tom Phillips (guitar / vocals) and Ron Floegel (guitar / vocals), they soon added drummer George Hullin and evolved into a surf band named the Contenders, then a British Invasion-influenced act called the New Breed. Under that moniker they issued their debut 45 on the tiny Diplomacy label in 1965, Green Eyed Woman I Im In Love.  The A-side was stomping garage rock, while the flip was an obscure Lennon-McCartney number that had been a hit for the Fourmost but wasnt recorded by the Beatles. A 1966 follow-up on Mercury (Leave Me Be I Ive Been Wrong Before) failed to break nationally, and their last two 45s (Want Ad Reader / One More For The Good Guys and Fine With Me I The Sound Of The Music) were minor garage classics that appeared on the...

The Rowans Sibling Rivalry Jubilation 1976 77 us marvelous country silk rock 2004 issue

The Rowans Sibling Rivalry Jubilation 1976 77 us marvelous country silk rock 2004 issue Jerry Garcia called them the California Beatles. Rock critic Dave Marsh quipped that Garcia must have been tripping at the time. The truth about the Rowans can be found where the truth often resides: somewhere in the middle. Between Garcias adulation and the critics damnation with faint praise, the Rowans made an eclectic and uneven body of work for Asylum Records in the mid-70sa trio of albums through which disparate styles, from bluegrass and reggae to straightforward pop and rock, intersected and combined. Some of the Rowans songs from this period continue to be sung today and, thanks to Collectors Choice, their original albums are back in print nearly thirty years later. Peter, Chris and Lorin Rowan recorded their self-titled Asylum debut in 1975, and that story can be found in the booklet of The Rowans, reissued on compact disc by Collectors Choice in 2002. This disc is the second chapter in t...
