The Evil Within is an almost reboot of survival horror, mixing a large portion of Resident Evil and Silent Hill with SAW. A police detective, you wake up swinging from a meat hook during an investigation of creepy mansion du jure. The game is terrifying and unnerving, with hints of psychological horror thrown in as well. This is a brutal, gruesome, and terrifying return to the survival horror roots. If you like terrifying games, this is a game for you. The graphics are gorgeously disturbing, the music is fantastically tense, and the controls are very responsive and tight.
